LITANY TO THE SAINTS
The Saints are our extended family that is already in heaven.
They were ordinary people that lived extraordinary lives of faith, and since they are very close to God, we feel that their prayers are particularly effective. Often, we ask particular saints to pray for us that may have faced similar problems. For example, many people ask St. Monica to pray for them if their prayers seem to be unanswered, because she prayed for 17 years for her son to be converted! Her prayers were finally answered in a way she never dreamed of - her son, Augustine, became a saint and Doctor of the Church!
Ask the Saints to pray for you, they are waiting to help!

The word that best describes Junipera Serra is zeal. This spirit came from his deep prayer life. His motto is one we should always remember -- "Always forward, never back."
He worked tirelessly fighting for the human rights and dignity of Native Americans, founding missions throughout all of California, and converting thousands.

At the pleading of St. Bonaventure's mother, St. Francis prayed for his healing from a dangerous illness. While praying for little John, St. Francis saw the future greatness of the saint, and proclaimed "O Buona Ventura" - o good fortune! He was called "Seraphic" because of his true Franciscan spirit. All who knew him loved him.
